Surf Camp Morocco Experience: Surf, Culture & the Best Spots

Hi! My name is Oussama, and I’m a surf instructor at Oussama Surf Adventure, a top-rated surf camp Morocco offers. I’ve been teaching surfing for years, and every day still feels like a dream. Whether you’re a total beginner or an experienced surfer, our camp in Tamraght, near Taghazout, is the perfect place to ride waves and live the surf life.

Let me take you through a typical day here at our surf camp in Morocco.

Waking Up in Our Surf Camp in Morocco

I wake up early every morning in a cozy surf house, just a short walk from the ocean. The air is fresh, and I can already hear the waves calling. That’s one of the best things about being a surf instructor in Morocco-you live so close to the beach.

Before breakfast, I check the surf conditions. I look at the tide, wind, and swell. This helps me choose the best surf spot for our session. Our guests come from all over the world and I love it. Some want to learn to surf, while others are here to improve their surfing skills. I want everyone to have an amazing time. Every person brings a different energy, and that makes each day special. I enjoy hearing their stories and where they’ve surfed before. Some are nervous at first, but they always surprise themselves. Others are chasing their dream surf, looking for new favourite spots in Morocco. No matter their goal, I do my best to help them feel confident and stoked.

Planning the Day with the Surf Team

At Oussama Surf Adventure, we have an experienced surf team. Surf teachers meet each morning to plan the day ahead. We talk about the waves, the surf levels of our guests, and which surf spots in Morocco will work best today.

We choose from many options. Some of the most thrilling surf spots in Morocco are near Taghazout, like Anchor Point (great for advanced surfers), Hash Point, and Banana Beach (works well for both beginners and intermediates). Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced surfer, Morocco has waves for all surf levels.

I help load the surfboards, wetsuits, and snacks into the car. Our surf school offers everything you need, including a full surf guiding package for those who don’t need lessons.

On the Way to the Surf Spot

We drive along the coast, heading toward the chosen surf spot. The ride is always full of energy. I love telling guests about the places we pass and about Moroccan culture as well. We often see goats in trees, colorful markets, and beautiful ocean views.

Once we arrive, I check the surf conditions again. If the waves look good, we do a warm-up on the sand. Then I split the group into levels-beginners, intermediates, and advanced surfers.

Surf Morocco Morning Surf Session

Now it’s time to surf. This is the best part of the day! I get in the water with the group and start the surf lessons. For people who are new, I explain everything step by step-how to paddle, how to pop up, and how to catch your first wave. A holiday in Morocco is the perfect time to try surfing for the first time. The warm water, soft waves, and friendly vibe make it perfect for beginners. Many of our guests say that Morocco surf helped them fall in love with the sport. It’s amazing how much progress you can make in just a few days. Even people who arrive a bit scared end up riding waves and smiling all the way back to shore.

Seeing someone stand up for the first time is always special. They smile so big, and I know they’ll never forget that moment.

For the more advanced surfers, I offer tips on timing, turning, and reading waves. There are so many great waves around Taghazout, and each one has its own rhythm. This small fishing village is surrounded by endless surf spots, perfect for those who want to challenge themselves. Surfing here can be an unforgettable experience, especially when you catch the perfect wave at a hidden point break. I guide advanced surfers to secret locations only locals know. We focus on positioning and choosing the best waves for their style.

At Oussama Surf Adventure, our goal is to give every guest the best surf camp in Morocco experience.

Lunch and Relaxation

After the first session, we take a break. We dry off, drink water, and talk about the session. Then it’s time for a delicious Moroccan lunch. We often eat traditional Moroccan dishes together or go to a nearby cafe. Delicious food gives us energy for the rest of the day.

Guests love this part. We sit together, eat, and enjoy the view. People share their stories, and we laugh a lot. It feels like one big family. Many people coming back from Morocco often say the Moroccan food was amazing.

Afternoon Choices: More Surf or Explore

In the afternoon, guests can choose what they want to do. Many want another session of surfing, especially when the waves are great. Others prefer to relax, do a yoga class, or take a trip to Paradise Valley.

If there’s a second session, I choose a spot with good surf conditions for the afternoon. Sometimes we go to quiet local surf beaches. These places are peaceful and perfect for improving surfing skills.

Returning to Camp

After surfing, we pack up and head back to camp. Everyone is a bit tired but very happy. Back at the surf house, guests shower, rest, and watch the sunset. It’s always beautiful here in Tamraght.

Dinner is another chance to enjoy Moroccan culture. We enjoy local food, play music, and sometimes have a fire under the stars. It’s the perfect way to end a day at a surf school in Morocco.

More Than Just Surfing

Being a surf instructor is not just a job. It’s a lifestyle. At our surf school, I get to meet people from all over the world. I get to teach, laugh, and help people learn how to surf. Some guests come back every year. Others stay longer than planned. A few even move here!

This is what makes Oussama Surf Adventure one of the favourite surf camps in the area. We offer more than just surf lessons. We offer memories, friendships, and the joy of the ocean.

Travel Tips for Your Surf Holiday

If you’re planning a surf holiday in Taghazout or Tamraght, getting here is easy. Most guests fly into Agadir airport, which is only about 45 minutes away from our surf house in Morocco. We offer transfers, so you don’t have to worry. Just bring your excitement-and maybe some sunscreen!

At Oussama Surf Adventure, we welcome surfers of all levels. Whether you’re here for one week or a full month, we make sure your stay is full of joy, learning, and amazing surf.

What to Bring

For your surf holiday, you don’t need much. We provide all the gear-boards, wetsuits, and wax. But here’s what I tell every guest to bring:

  • Swimsuit and towel
  • Flip flops or beach sandals
  • Sunscreen and sunglasses
  • A reusable water bottle
  • A sense of adventure

If you’re staying in our surf house, you’ll have a comfortable room, great food, and a rooftop with a sea view. Our accommodation is simple but cozy, perfect for relaxing after a long surf session.

A Week at Oussama Surf Adventure

Let me tell you what a typical week looks like at our Morocco surf camp.

Day 1: Arrival, welcome dinner, and a short talk about the week ahead.
Day 2: First surf lesson. We start slow, get used to the water, and catch our first waves.
Day 3: More surfing and maybe a trip to an amazing surf spot. You start to feel confident.
Day 4: Optional surf guiding package for those improving fast. Or rest and explore the town.
Day 5: Sunrise yoga, surfing at a new Moroccan surf spot, and a night of live music.
Day 6: Final big session. Video coaching to see how far you’ve come during our surf courses.
Day 7: Goodbye breakfast and hugs. Many guests cry-they don’t want to leave!

We surf every day, unless the sea is flat. But in Morocco, that’s rare. We always find the best waves. The surf conditions are great almost all year. That’s why so many call it their favourite surf camp in Morocco.

Guest Experiences

Over the years, I’ve taught thousands of people to surf in Morocco. Some had never touched a board before. Others were already good but wanted to get better and see numerous surf spots Morocco has to offer.

One guest, Denice from the UK, came for one week and stayed for four, calling it one of the best surf experiences she had. She called it the perfect surf holiday. Another guest, Lucas from Germany, said it was the “top surf trip of his life.”

We’ve had solo travelers, couples, and even whole families. Everyone finds something special here and a new fav place to surf. The Moroccan coastline, the food, the people-it all adds to the magic. These are the reasons why Morocco, and especially north of Agadir and the surfing area attract more and more people every year.
